Haryana draws Rs 5,500 crore investment proposals during Saini's Singapore visit

Chandigarh, Oct 6 (UNI) Haryana has received investment proposals worth about Rs 5,500 crore across healthcare, water management, education and skill development during Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's visit to Singapore, the state government said on Tuesday.
The visit, aimed at attracting overseas investment and expanding technological collaboration, concluded on Tuesday, with companies and institutions agreeing to move towards Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) for proposed investments in the state, according to a press release issued by Haryana's Department of Information, Public Relations and Languages here this evening.
Of the total proposed investment, about Rs 3,000 crore is in the health and wellness sector, Rs 1,500 crore in water treatment and management and Rs 1,000 crore in education and skill development, the government said.
The state said the proposals, once implemented, could lead to expansion of healthcare infrastructure, adoption of modern water-management technologies, development of educational and skill-training facilities and creation of employment opportunities.
Healthcare and wellness emerged as the biggest component of the investment proposals secured during the Singapore visit.
According to the government, proposals worth about Rs 3,000 crore in the sector envisage development of modern hospitals, healthcare centres and wellness facilities, besides medical research and adoption of advanced healthcare technologies.
Saini said investment in the sector would not only strengthen healthcare facilities but could also create employment and skill-development opportunities and facilitate adoption of new medical technologies.
“A healthy society is the foundation of a developed society,” the Chief Minister said, adding that the government was working to expand access to modern and quality healthcare services.
The government said proposed investments worth about Rs 1,500 crore were agreed upon in water treatment and management, an area in which Singapore has developed extensive technological expertise.
The proposed projects are expected to cover modern water treatment plants, sewage treatment, industrial water management, water reuse, and smart water management systems.
The government expects such projects to improve utilisation of water resources in urban and industrial areas and support environmental protection.
Saini said water security would be a major priority in the coming years and Haryana was seeking modern technologies for conservation, augmentation and scientific management of water resources.
He said collaboration between Singapore's technological expertise and Haryana's requirements could open up new opportunities in the sector.
The government said another Rs 1,000 crore of proposed investment was linked to education and skill development. The proposals could support expansion of modern educational institutions, skill-development centres, technical education, digital learning and employment-oriented training facilities.
Saini said the government's focus was on equipping young people not only with academic qualifications but also with technical and vocational skills to improve employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Singapore's education and skill-training expertise could help Haryana prepare its young workforce for opportunities in India and overseas, he said.
The Chief Minister said Haryana would now work with the departments concerned to convert the investment proposals into projects. “The government's objective is to ensure that investment does not remain confined to paper, but that its direct benefits reach the youth, industries and common citizens of Haryana,” Saini said.
The state government said it was offering investors connectivity to the National Capital Region, an established industrial base, road and rail networks, infrastructure and availability of skilled manpower as key advantages for locating projects in Haryana.
Saini said Haryana was seeking to establish itself as a major centre for investment, industry and innovation, and that the government would provide support to investors from the project establishment stage through to operations.
The government expects the proposed investments, if implemented, to generate new employment, expand the use of modern technologies and strengthen healthcare, water management, education and skill-development infrastructure.
Saini said the Singapore visit and growing engagement with companies there could also open avenues for broader technological collaboration between Haryana and Singapore.
The government said the next stage would involve coordination between the relevant departments and prospective investors to advance the proposals and translate them into on-the-ground projects.
